Vienna, Austria: We are hosting a webinar on "Migration as a Response to Environmental Change: examples from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan". This will be the first meeting specifically focused on climate and migration within the framework of the Budapest Process. The webinar will be held virtually via Zoom, on Wednesday 5th May (from 10:30 – 12:00 CET).

Baghdad, Iraq: The first expert workshop for the project on Developing the Iraqi Government’s knowledge and expertise in migration management (IMED) was conducted (virtually) in Baghdad at the Coral Palace Hotel on 11-13th April. The workshop was attended by the project Core Group, comprising senior officers from five ministries (Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Displaced, Interior, Planning, and Labour and Social Affairs).

Islamabad, Pakistan: We are proud to announce the launch of our new Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) Pakistan website. The site has been restructured and redesigned while we have also added a wealth of new migration information which will benefit Pakistani citizens, as well as be a resource for other stakeholders.

Dushanbe, Tajikistan: ICMPD participated in a Mercy Corps and Helvetas event - within the framework of the EU-funded project “Improving migration management in the Silk Routes” - where practical tools developed to support Tajik labour migrants and their families were presented. These included:

Baghdad, Iraq/ Beirut, Lebanon: On the 22 March – 1 April 2021, cooperation between the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and Iraq Border Management authorities was facilitated by ICMPD through a joint initiative to develop the operational and training expertise on document security and identity. The cooperation also promoted the role of local actors in developing intra-regional solutions to capacity development in the area of border management.

Kabul, Afghanistan: On the 29th March – 1st April 2021, ICMPD hosted a basic level training workshop on Document Security. The workshop was attended by 27 frontline officers from the Afghan Border Police (ABP), Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Afghan National Police Department (ANPA). The workshop was conducted by a selection of trainers with international experience.

Islamabad, Pakistan: Our Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) team in Pakistan and the Punjab Vocational Training Council jointly conducted orientation sessions on Safe and Informed Migration at the Kasur City and Noorpur Dogran Vocational Training Institutes.
