Addressing Climate Induced displacement and migration in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh and Vienna, Austria: We are delighted to announce the publication of the study “Addressing Climate Induced Displacement and Migration in Bangladesh.”

The report is written by Action Aid Bangladesh within the framework of the South Asia Migration and Climate (SAMAC) initiative.

With the impact of climate change and associated disasters on the rise, a staggering number of people are being displaced or forced to migrate for survival globally. South Asia is one of the most vulnerable and disaster-prone regions in the world. In 2017, climate disasters triggered most of the displacements in South Asia and the total number came to 2.8 million. Bangladesh – one of the most vulnerable countries in the world to the impact of climate change – has been dealing with this phenomenon, and the resulting displacement and migration, for decades.
