Access to accurate, reliable and timely migration information remains essential for enabling Iraqis to make informed decisions about migration and reintegration. Despite improvements in stability, many Iraqis continue to face socio-economic challenges such as unemployment and limited livelihood opportunities and uncertainty regarding migration pathways. These factors, combined with misinformation and unrealistic expectations regarding migration to Europe, continue to drive irregular migration aspirations.
Building on the achievements and lessons learned from the European Union-funded MIRAMI I project, MIRAMI II seeks to strengthen access to factual migration information, support informed decision-making, and contribute to the prevention of irregular migration through evidence-based awareness raising and counselling services.
The project will build upon the extensive network of Migrant Resource Centres (MRCs) established in Iraq and continue working with government institutions, civil society organisations, community leaders, media actors and returnees to provide credible information on migration, legal pathways, reintegration opportunities and the risks associated with irregular migration.
Overall objective
MIRAMI II aims to empower potential migrants, returnees and their communities to make informed decisions regarding migration and reintegration by increasing access to reliable information and strengthening local support systems.
