Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) progress review in Tajikistan

Dushanbe, Tajikistan: ICMPD together with the EU Delegation and the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment of Population of the Republic of Tajikistan held the first Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) Progress Review meeting on 7th April.

Deputy Minister Shakhnoza Nodiri acknowledged the progress that has been achieved and requested support in organising an information campaign for Tajik labour migrants. The goal of this is to provide migrants with information and allow them to take the right choices as well as make them aware of their rights and responsibilities as a migrant worker in the countries of destination in the times of the COVID-19 pandemic. The parties agreed on the next steps for the Migrant Resource Centre to support the information needs of labour migrants from Tajikistan.

The MRC is part of a larger network of information centres supported by ICMPD in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iraq and Pakistan, with the aim of providing migrants with timely, adequate and reliable information and guidance on migration. The project is funded by the European Union and implemented by ICMPD.
