ICMPD conducts training sessions with Iraqi Border Port Commission (BPC) and the Ministry of Interior

Last week ICMPD conducted two impactful training sessions for the benefit of the Iraqi Border Port Commission (BPC) and the Ministry of Interior of Iraq. The trainings were organised in Baghdad at the premises of the BPC in the framework of the EU-funded project “Integrated Border Management in Silk Routes countries”. The trainings were organised in close coordination with the Prime Minister’s Office and focused on image analysis in order to provide comprehensive knowledge and skills enhancement to 30 Iraqi officials.

During the two very interactive and practical training sessions, the international experts presented best practices on methodologies for monitoring and identifying smuggled goods in different vehicles types, using X-Ray equipment. Through the practical exercises using X-Ray images from around the world, the participants were equipped with the essential knowledge and principles of X-Ray image analysis, various methods employed in such activities, and techniques for evaluating the obtained results, thus making their daily work more effective and efficient and facilitating the legitimate trade.
