Cumilla, Bangladesh: Mr. Debabrata Ghosh, Assistant Director of the District Employment and Manpower Office (DEMO), Cumilla was awarded the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) and National Integrity Strategy (NIS) Award for the fiscal year 2020-21. This is the first time BMET (Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training) has presented such an award for field level institutions.
The honour has been conferred on Mr. Ghosh as a result of his efficient leadership and managerial performance in a series of activities throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic.
His initiatives included conducting mass awareness-raising campaigns; home delivery of scholarship cheques for migrant children; as well as distributing leaflets, masks, gloves and sanitizers provided by ICMPD at the grassroots level. Mr. Ghosh led a team comprised of DEMO staff and Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) Counsellors to effectively implement activities during the lockdown period.
On receiving his award Mr. Debabrata Ghosh stated underlined his delight and thanked the honourable Director General of BMET, Mr. Md Shahidul Alam for singling him out from an array of peers and superiors.
Mr. Ghosh added: “To receive this accolade, a huge number of activities related to safe migration, welfare of migrants and their family members, awareness-raising campaigns mostly supported by ICMPD were undertaken at the grassroots level of the Cumilla and Brahmanbaria districts. My special thanks and gratitude go to Sedef Dearing of ICMPD for her invaluable assistance, encouragement and cooperation.
