CAIR project: Third Multi-Stakeholder Platform

Erbil, Iraq. The Project CAIR implementation team held its third Multi-Stakeholder Platform meeting (on reintegration) in Erbil, Iraq, on 28 July 2022. The Meeting was attended by representatives of the Iraqi Government, including General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, Ministries of Labour and Social Affairs, of Migration and Displaced, and of Planning.

Moreover, participants from the private sector included members of the Chambers of Commerce of Baghdad, Erbil, Basra, and Halabja, the General Union for Workers Syndicates, and Iraqi Industries Union, joined by the representatives of reintegration service providers, European and National training centres, and academia.

The Meeting paved way for development of a roadmap for forward-thinking cooperation between the public and private sector on reintegration efforts for returnees to Iraq – including understanding the scope and provision of services offered; sectoral work and synergies specific to reintegration needs and support; terms of engagement with the private sector; and legislative challenges which require attention in terms of strengthened coordination.
