Norway supports the Budapest Process in 2023

The Budapest Process Secretariat is proud to announce that the Norwegian Ministry of Justice and Public Security will support the activities of Budapest Process for the end of 2022 and throughout 2023. A grant of 2.000.000 NOK (approx. 195.000 EUR) has been signed between ICMPD hosting the Budapest Process Secretariat and the Norwegian Ministry of Justice and Public Security. Now the main donor to the dialogue, Norway has been a steadfast and long running partner and donor to the Budapest Process and this grant builds on a series of prior similar commitments made by Norway to the dialogue and its flanking projects.

The overall objective of the support is to contribute to the Budapest Process’s activities in strengthening cooperation with the Silk Routes region on migration governance and the transition to preparing the new Ministerial Declaration. The dialogue among Budapest Process countries will continue to focus on Priority Goals 1 and 2 of “The Istanbul Commitments on the Silk Routes Partnership for Migration and its Call for Action”, that is – the focus would remain on irregular migration including border management and return and reintegration as well as labour migration and skills partnerships.

The Norwegian grant is testament to the trust and confidence placed by partner countries on the ability of the Budapest Process to provide the right platform for dialogue and action on improving migration governance along the routes which is appreciated by the Budapest Process Chairmanship and its partner countries.
