Information on recent Budapest Process meetings

The implementation of the Silk Routes Partnership has been the main focus of the Budapest Process in the second half of 2013. In this context, the UK initiated the first follow up project (Bridging Measures) and organised a donor coordination meeting in July where key partners came together to discuss future cooperation frameworks in the Silk Routes Region.

The final intergovernmental conference of the Silk Routes I project was held jointly with the 4th Silk Routes Working Group meeting on 28 - 30 October 2013 in Islamabad, Pakistan, as the first international meeting of the Budapest Process to be held in the Silk Routes region. The meeting presented the main findings of the two-year long project, inter alia, draft country migration reports on Afghanistan and Pakistan, i-map visualisations on migration routes and realities and as a defined set of follow-up activities also contributing the implementation of the Istanbul Ministerial Declaration "A Silk Routes Partnership for Migration".

The second part of the meeting was dedicated to initiate strategic discussions, on the regional level, on future actions and programmes in the Silk Routes region under the umbrella of the Budapest Process. The meeting gave expert level input for the  following Senior Official Meeting in Istanbul, Turkey on 9-10 December 2013.

The SOM gathered 39 countries and 4 international organisations with the aim to approve the BP multi-annual strategy and Silk Routes Programme, specifying several concrete actions under the Silk Routes Partnership and for the geographic working groups.

The multi-annual strategy is available for download from the home page.
