Enhancing reintegration capacity in Iraq

Baghdad, 14 -16 June 2022. The project CAIR held its second Multi-stakeholder meeting on reintegration platform in Baghdad, Iraq on 14 June 2022.

The meeting was opened by ICMPDs Regional Coordinator Silk Routes and attended by representatives of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Iraqi General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Ministry of Migration and Displaced and Ministry of Planning.

Moreover, Iraqi private sector attended the meeting with a strong representation from the Businessmen Union, Baghdad Chamber of Commerce, Basra Chamber of Commerce, the General Union for Workers Syndicates, and Iraqi Industries Union, along with the representatives of academia, service providers, and training centres. The objectives of the meeting were to present and jointly review Terms of Reference of the multi-stakeholder platform for reintegration of returnees and to demonstrate the functions of the platform. The meeting concluded with a roundtable discussion that has paved the way to concrete solutions from the private sector to support the government of Iraq in the ongoing work on reintegration of returnees.

ICMPD team in addition carried out bilateral meetings with the Embassies of Denmark, the UK, and Sweden, IOM and UNoDC with an aim to further enhance its national and international cooperation in the area of reintegration in Iraq.
