Dushanbe, Tajikistan: Our Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) in Dushanbe was set up to meet the needs of Tajik citizens who are planning to migrate, or have already done so, for the purposes of work and study. The MRC’s mission is therefore to provide Tajiks with neutral, reliable and up-to-date factual information on what they should do, the documentation they require and the processes that they should follow to make informed decisions on migration.
Within this context, our MRC in Tajikistan organised a five-day intensive interactive training session for the agencies of the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment of Population of the Republic of Tajikistan on 4th-8th October 2021. These included the Agency for Employment Abroad, Pre-departure information and orientation centres for migrants and Adult Training Centres.
For the purpose of this “train the trainers” session, the MRC developed two training manuals and training programmes. This will also form the basis for future information orientation sessions for intending and outgoing migrants. The materials that were developed now form the structure for the first pre-departure orientation system developed in Tajikistan. Due to the depth and quality of the training it has now been approved and licensed by the Advanced Training and Re-Training Center of employees of the Ministry of Labour, Migration, and Employment of Population.
This training was conducted within the framework of the EU-funded project “Improving Migration Management in the Silk Routes countries”. The Migrant Resource Centre in Tajikistan is implemented by ICMPD in close cooperation with local government partners.
