Vienna, Austria: The collapse of the national government in Afghanistan in mid-August and subsequent takeover of the country by the Taliban has set in train conditions for a potential migration and displacement crisis. This is currently being felt in neighbouring countries but could spill out across the broader region and beyond.
What are the humanitarian challenges? What is the impact on migration flows in the region and beyond? What are the needs for cooperation and support from the countries in the immediate neighbourhood of Afghanistan?
These are some of the themes that we will be discussing on 13th October during our Webinar on the Situation in Afghanistan – Implications for the Silk Routes region and what comes next?
Check out the full agenda.
The Budapest Process is an inter-regional dialogue on migration chaired by Turkey and co-chaired by Hungary. It is funded by the European Commission, Finland, Hungary, Norway, Poland, Switzerland and Turkey.
