Bangladesh Television (BTV) features our MRCs in a programme to mark National Information Day

Dhaka, Bangladesh: To mark National Information Day in Bangladesh, Bangladesh Television (BTV), the government’s official TV channel featured our Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) in its special coverage to commemorate the occasion. MRC Coordinator Mahabubul Alam presented the various information campaigns and community education outreach that the MRCs conduct nationwide. These activities include distributing information materials, conducting workshops with local officials and academia, as well as campaigns in markets and bazaars to promote safe and regular migration.

The safe migration board that presents the different steps and requirements that a potential migrant must comply with to ensure proper employment and safe departure was also featured. The board was prepared by the MRCs in consultation with the Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training as well as the District Employment and Manpower Office.

As a government channel, BTV is able to reach the majority of the Bangladeshi population: even those living in remote areas. The aim of the special broadcast is for institutions to describe how they provide information services to citizens, thus ensuring government’s transparency and accountability.

MRC Bangladesh is funded by the European Union and Switzerland and implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development. The two MRCs located in Dhaka and Cumilla have recently been formally inaugurated and have been in operation for more than a year. More information can be viewed in the MRC social media accounts.
