Dushanbe, Tajikistan: The Second Advisory Board Meeting took place on 29th July with the participation of the Deputy Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment of Population of the Republic of Tajikistan Ms. Shahnoza Nodiri; EU Delegation representatives; the ICMPD Regional Coordinator for Eastern Europe and Central Asia; and representatives of the departments and institutions of the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment of Population of the Republic of Tajikistan (MoLMEP).
The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the outcomes of the Migrant Resource Centre’s (MRC) activities for the period April – July 2021 and further discuss its upcoming events and activities for the period August – October 2021. The MRC highlighted the importance of its cooperation with the MoLMEP as a major pillar which is contributing to the provision of safe, orderly, and regular migration channels for labour migrants and migrants in general from Tajikistan. As part of such a fruitful collaboration, it was highlighted that over the last couple of months, MRC jointly with MoLMEP actively participated in an information campaign on raising awareness among Tajik labour migrants in Russia to legalise their status before 15 June 2021. MRC has also developed and revised the pre-departure modules handbooks for labour migrants which are awaiting approval from MoLMEP. In addition, the MRC team highlighted their additional activities - developing five country visa profiles for the major destination countries of Tajik labour migrants (South Korea, Turkey, Poland, Romania, and Germany). Likewise, they are working on the development of information brochures on various current themes as part of the MRC’s outreach activities.
The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to MRC and ICMPD for their tireless efforts and assistance in addressing the existing migration issues for Tajik citizens. Ms. Nodiri also provided recommendations and highlighted points of synergy with upcoming events where the MRC could support in future implementation together with MoLMEP. The Ministry also expressed strong interest in furthering projects in Tajikistan and is hoping for an even more fruitful and tighter cooperation with the MRC, ICMPD and the European Commission.
