new projects in the silk routes

Vienna, Austria: ICMPD has been chosen to implement a range of new projects in the Silk Routes region on migration management. These activities will cover knowledge and capacity-building; as well as awareness raising on the risks of irregular migration. This work will be focused on Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan, while projects will last for between 12 and 24 months.

Speaking about these new projects, Sedef Dearing (Head of the Budapest Process Secretariat and Regional Coordinator, Silk Routes) said that “we are delighted to be implementing these vital activities in cooperation with authorities and partners in the region. We appreciate the trust and support extended to us by the European Union as well as the governments of Austria, Bulgaria and Switzerland. We also value the good cooperation we enjoy with the governments of the Silk Routes countries. This encourages us to deliver further operational success and concrete results in these challenging areas at very difficult times.”
