Dhaka: Today, the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) kicked off a series of formal capacity building initiatives to 10 Technical Training Centres (TTCs) in Bangladesh located in districts without District Employment and Manpower Offices.
The first set of training sessions are focused on strengthening the capacities of TTCs to promote awareness on safe, regular and orderly migration. There are 32 participants taking part from the 10 districts. This will be followed by individual mentoring for each TTC and a second formal training session on 11-12th November.
Director General of the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET), Md. Shamsul Alam, emphasised the role and contribution of the TTCs in the pre-migration stage as well as in the return of migrants due to the need to recognise their skills and newly-acquired knowledge. He also highlighted that this will help them become more competitive in the global market, especially post-COVID19
The training is implemented by the ICMPD and funded by the European Union, supported by the German Federal Foreign Office.
