Budapest Process Countries finalise Ministerial Declaration in Hungary

Almost 100 delegates from 40 countries agreed on the IstanbulMinisterial Declaration to be adopted at the 5th Budapest Process Ministerial Conference    “A Silk Routes Partnership for Migration” to be held in Istanbul on 19 April 2013.

Hosted by the Hungarian Ministry of Interior, the third out of four preparatory meetings, held on 4-5 March 2013 in Budapest, marked the final stage of several rounds of intensive discussions on the content of the Istanbul Ministerial Declaration. Covering a wide geography stretching from western Europe to China, the Declaration sets out the framework for cooperation in managing migration flows taking place along the Silk Routes and defines common objectives in a diverse field of migration issues.

The purpose of the Ministerial Conference "A Silk Routes Partnership for Migration"  and its’ declaration is to take stock of 20 years of the Budapest Process, confirm the successful integration of the Silk Routes region into the process and the development of the Budapest Process into a balanced intergovernmental dialogue on migration management.
